Trailblazers of the West

William Clark and Meriwether Lewis launched an expedition with The Corps of Discovery in the early 1800s. They were commissioned by the at the time president, Thomas Jefferson. Their objective was to gain more knowledge about the land they had just purchased from Napoleon and to go across the western region of the US. Some goals were establishing trade with Native Americans, discovering new plants and animals, and finding a water route to the Pacific. When their voyage came to an end. They succeeded in leaving a great deal of knowledge about West America. They accomplished many great things like exploring the western regions, sailing to the Pacific, and befriending Native Americans.
